Summer is time for deep reflection and deep connections for TAB teachers. The summer kicked off with TABstock 2017 in Three Oaks, MI at our beloved Blueberry Fields. 36 teachers from 10 states camping, sharing, laughing, screen printing, grilling, percolating and creating. This 3 day retreat is organized by the Midwest TAB Crew (my amazing co-creators, Lisa Van Plew Cid, Candi Poll Price, Clyde Gaw and Clark Fralick).
I also spent a week in Boston teaching at the Summer TAB Institute. I was exhausted beyond belief but utterly in awe of this awesome group of art educators I had the pleasure of mentoring at the Institute. 60 fierce, reflective, warm and joyous teachers all in one place. The best PD out there.
I'm Julie and I usually have paint on my face, pom poms in my pockets and can be found digging cardboard out of the recycling bins at my school. I am a passionate advocate for child art and TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior). This blog will archive my experiences, joys and challenges in teaching a child centered art studio at Baker Demonstration School in IL.
